How It Works
Those seeking assistance must:
- meet specific low-income criteria,
- reside in Whatcom County, WA,
- have mental health services as their primary need.
Those who qualify for assistance may select their licensed Masters’-level mental health provider either from our list of PHR providers or from a list of local providers.
Limited funding for services such as naturopathic medical care, massage therapy, and acupunture is available for individuals whose healing processes require these services.
Information on counseling and psychotherapy without the use of psychiatric drugs is available through our office and on our website. Related consultative materials and resources for professionals are also available.
PHR does not provide treatment and is not involved in the treatment of those who receive funding.
PHR helps individuals and families who are seeking both traditional and non-traditional mental healthcare, and pays for the services of all licensed Masters’-level mental health providers, regardless of treatment orientation.
PHR values responsibility—funding recipients must either pay a small co-pay or do volunteer work (privately) in the community.
